Recycling 1 - God's eyes see everything

coloured pencils and computer graphics

The symbol of the Holy Trinity in the Middle Ages was a triangle with an eye in the middle. In my image, the triangle became the symbol of recycling, and the eyeball became the Planet Earth itself.

The picture shows a rose window photographed from inside the church. The lights of the outside world shine through the glass mosaics. The inner circle of the rosette is formed by a sliced fruit cake visible from above. It’s as if the colorful fruits were also regular glass mosaics.

Fall into sin - Let there be eternal enmity between the woman and the snake. The woman steps on the snake's head, the snake bites the woman's heel.

coloured pencils and computer graphics

The picture shows the exact moment mentioned in the title, when a snake bites a woman’s leg.
The snake twists itself around the leg, exactly as a snake twists itself around a tree.
The leg ends in a tree. This is a strange tree. This tree doesn’t have a big canopy. The tree looks more like a tropical plant and bears fruit (apples).
This tree is the Tree of Knowledge standing in Paradise, from which Eve took the forbidden fruit at the snake’s suggestion.
In the foreground of the picture is a stylized pair of people biting into an apple.
Under the tree are two chewed apples, one chewed apple represents the male body, while the other chewed apple evokes the shape of the female body.
The „man-apple cone” is projected on the ground with the shadow of a man’s body, while the „woman-apple cone” is projected on the ground with the shadow of a woman.
In the background, the couple hugs each other and leaves Paradise.

Falling into sin - or digesting the apple - you could say, the snake lives in us

coloured pencils and computer graphics

The picture shows Adam and Eve in Paradise, between them is the forbidden tree, the fruit of which they are forbidden to taste. The snake crawls up the tree. The snake’s long body takes the form of a human digestive system. The snake bites into one of the apples.
I present the bodies of Adam and Eve as anatomical drawings. The snake form is also found in their bodies. Their oral cavity is the head of the snake, and their esophagus and digestive system form a snake shape.
Two Latin quotations can also be read on the picture. The one on the left reads like this in English: „But the snake was more cunning than all the living creatures of the earth that the Lord God created. The snake said to the woman: Why did God command you not to eat from one of the trees in the garden?”
The other biblical quote reads: „For God knows that in the day you eat of it, your eyes will be opened, and you will be like gods, knowing good and evil.”

Entering the Earth 1

oil chalk

He comes to Earth from the mouth of a huge snake in the form of an astronaut – a man. The snake opens its mouth and sticks out its tongue, which is now – in this picture – a ladder. Man climbs down to Earth on this ladder.

Entering the Earth 2

oil chalk and computer graphics

The snake coils itself around the tree that bears the forbidden fruit. The long body of the snake takes the shape of a staircase. In this picture, the snake does not give the forbidden fruit to Eve, but makes the path to the fruit easier for Adam and Eve.

Entering the Earth 3

coloured pencils and computer graphics

We are in outer space. Planet Earth is shown in the shape of the forbidden fruit – the apple. In this picture, too, the snake leads Adam and Eve to the apple so that the couple can climb up to the head of the snake on its stepped back, from where they can easily step onto the Earth. The picture is about the expulsion from Paradise.

Deception - or the Devil, who escaped into Paradise and sat before a lemon, did all this to make it seem from afar that a halo was shining above her head

oil chalk and coloured pencils

In medieval paintings and icon-paintings, saints are depicted with a halo around their head. The light of glory is golden, circular, and surrounds the saint’s head.
This picture shows the devil himself. He wants to deceive people, he tries to deceive them, he does this by running into Paradise and sitting there in front of a lemon. And because of this, it may seem to the viewers as if there is a glimmer of glory around his head as well. Inattentive people with poor vision may think the devil is an angel… But he is not.

Religious war

The picture shows the Tian Tan Buddha statue in Hong Kong. An assassin’s hand points a pistol at the statue and shoots at it. The place of the bullet – which is the third eye for Buddhists and the bindi for Hindus – begins to bleed.

The picture shows an accident. A woman crossing a zebra-crossing is hit by a red car. The pedestrian-crossing turns into a spiral staircase that leads to the sky. Perhaps the woman will also take this step towards heaven. Someone is already going up the stairs. The heavenly gaze is watching.

If lightning strikes us (God's hand scatters lightning)

computer graphics

The puppeteer moves the marionettes with strings.
In this picture, two heavenly hands are making lightning bolts. The lightnings turn into ropes, and thus the heavenly hand moves the puppets through the lightnings.
In Greek mythology, Zeus, the main god, was depicted as a god who throws lightning bolts.
Puppets are not fairy tale characters. But flesh and blood human figures, a man and a woman.
We play roles here on the earthly stage.
I wonder how free we are. How freely we make our actions and decisions.
The feeling of love strikes us like lightning. Can we control our feelings, and if so, how much?
In Greek mythology, Zeus, the main god, was depicted as a god who throws lightning bolts. Earthlings are often the toys of the gods, persons whom the gods move at their whim.
